History

The potential for the show started in December 2006. The ideas for the show came from Jude @ 105.4 Century FM North West (Now branded Century Radio) on 26/12/06 when she said I had potential to work in Radio. I rang the show for a song request (WHAM! - Last Christmas) and she wanted me to go on air. At the last minuite I hung up as i opted out of the idea of being on the radio…2 minuites later she rung me back live on air! 2 days later, 105.4 Century FM North West (Now branded Century Radio) rang back if I would appear on the station again. However instead of Jude I was talking to Pat Sharp, presenter of Fun house and Top of the pops. Pat repeated what Jude said that I had potential to work in radio and that if I had my own show it could be a big success. Ribble Valley Radio took the show onto their Station 4 months later!

The Dale Bamber show kicked off Saturday 14th April 2007 and was a massive success! The show started off on Saturday lunchtime between 12pm - 2pm however after just 2 weeks it made the jump from lunchtime radio to Prime time Radio. Since then the popularity continued to increase! The Dale Bamber Show has been known for its obscure stunts live on air…for example on 26th August 2007 when I presented Girls Aloud Heaven! (the 6 hour show), also the strangest….yet hugly popular on air feature - Guess the Girl! where i would play either a popstars the rivals performance, a clip of a girls aloud song or gave you clues to 1 of the members and all you have to do is guess the girl out of the 5 members of Girls Aloud:

  • Nadine
  • Cheryl
  • Sarah
  • Kimberley
  • Nicola

and of course for me hosting the Last ever show on Ribble Valley Radio.

So Far, the show has had 2 successful series Series 1 broadcasting from 14th April to 25th June 2007 (The best of show for series 1 broadcasting on 26th June) and series 2 broadcasting from 15th July to 7th October 2007 (with the last ever show for Ribble Valley radio on 14th October 2007)

The Highest rated show was Girls Aloud heaven…as the show was advertised on the official Girls Aloud Website! The second highest rated show was the Last ever show on RVR.

The Show broke a world record in August 2007 with Girls Aloud Heaven! It made the show known to its International listeners thanks to the official Girls Aloud Website, Girls Aloud Heaven…between 6pm - Midnight it was non-stop Girls Aloud…girls aloud music, Girls Aloud chat…even an official Girls Aloud Charts…rating all the released music from Girls Aloud from Sound of the underground to Sexy! No No No!

It was a first in the UK for a radio presenter to take a band to that level on the airwaves!!!!!!

The show also had its own official merchandise…with show T-shirts….Only 4 were made and as ya cant buy them in the shops…..They’re hard to get hold of!

However RVR hit problems in October 2007. On 8th October 2007 RVR announced that it would close its doors for the final time on 14th October after The Dale Bamber Show.  However specualtions grew on the 7th October after The Dale Bamber Show as he gave the impression that The Dale Bamber Show was ending. The Station closed down it in true Dale Bamber Show style - with the last song on the station being Girls Aloud - I’ll stand by you.

On 14th November 2007 it was announced that there will be a 3rd series of the show hitting the airwaves in 2008 on a brand new station…still yet to be named at the time! On 14th January 2008 it was announced that Ribble Valley Media would host the show on their channel…The station is still yet to launch in the next few months!

The Dale Bamber show won back it ionic slot of Sunday evenings 6pm - 8pm on Ribble Valley Media…this was officially announced on 1st May 2008

Series 3 will return with the launch of Ribble Valley Media with a new look - new listen show!
