The Pussycat Dolls started their singing days in 2005 and have gone from strengh to strengh. Currently on a brief break learn about the musical history of the dolls here

The Pussycat Dolls released their debut album on 13th September 2005 called PCD. Their first single, “Don’t Cha” was a success, reaching number one in multiple countries including UK, Australia and Canada and scored a maximum of number two on the Billboard Hot 100. The album produced six more singles. The ballad “Stickwitu” was another top five in the U.S. selling over three million digital downloads and CDs worldwide. The song was the group’s second UK number 1 success. It was later nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Performance By a Duo or Group. Their third single, “Beep”, which featured rapper will.i.am, did not perform as successfully as the previous two singles but still scored number one internationally, A subsequent single, “Buttons” (with rapper Snoop Dogg) scored number three on the UK Singles Chart, the next single, “I Don’t Need a Man” was not as successful, although it scored the top 10 in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand and UK. The group’s sixth single from the album was “Wait a Minute” featuring Timbaland released in the U.S. in August 2006, becoming a top 40 success worldwide. An official megamix of all the singles from PCD had also been released.

From 2006 until late 2008 Scherzinger had been working on her debut album which was titled Her Name Is Nicole. Scherzinger went on to release four moderately successful singles. The album was supposed to be released in 2007 before being pushed to October 16, 2008 and later into 2009 before being shelved. Doubt was cast over the future of the album when some of the songs which had initially been recorded for Scherzinger’s own album were given to the Pussycat Dolls for their upcoming sophomore album.

Doll Domination was the album everyone was talking about in 2008. Could it top PCD? Of course it could! After a brief break (during which Scherzinger released solo singles, and The Dolls reality TV series where they found another doll…and then she left after 3 performances with the group) the group returned to the Music scene with the new single “When I Grow Up”. The song scored at number nine on the U.S.Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play. The song charted at number six on the European Singles Chart, and number 2 in the UK.

After experiencing several release pushbacks and two singles already released, the album entitled Doll Domination was finally released in September 19, 2008. The album debuted at number four on the Billboard 200, with 79,000 copies sold in its first week, one notch higher than their first album PCD, which debuted and peaked at number five, and sold 99,000 copies in its first-week sales. It spent an astonishingly short seven weeks in the top 100, compared with their debut album which spent almost a year there, but in the week of January 10 2009, it re-entered the top 100 at number one hundred.

The album various singles including the worldwide top-20 hit “I Hate This Part” As the album began gaining recognition throughout the United States and Europe the Dolls began their World Domination Tour in Aberdeen, Scotland on 18th January 2009.

The group later released their urban pop–themed single “Whatcha Think About That” featuring guest vocals from rapper Missy Elliott. The song has peaked at #66 on the Canadian Hot 100, but failed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching #8 on the Bubbling Under chart. The single here in the UK got into the top 10.

Scherzinger confirmed to Billboard magazine that the Dolls would be re-releasing their current album to give people the chance to get a new spin of their music. In Europe the album was repackaged to include all of the original songs plus 3-4 of the new recordings. In Australia a compilation called Doll Domination 2.0 was released with 6 songs from the original version plus four new songs. The Dolls went on to release Doll Domination: The Mini Collection exclusively in the UK on April 27, 2009. It is a compilation of songs from the revised edition of the original album. The last repackaged version of the album entitled Doll Domination 3.0 was released in the UK following the success of all of the five singles, which managed to reach the top 20 of the UK Singles Chart, making it one of the group’s most successful markets.

The re-released version spawned two more singles; the worldwide number 1 “Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)”, and Euro-influenced top 20 international hit “Hush Hush; Hush Hush”.

After two months on the road they later returned to the United States to participate as the opening act for Britney Spears’ The Circus: Starring Britney Spears Tour. On May 5, Girlicious opened the last “Circus” show in Canada instead of the Dolls. Then, after filming the video for their single Hush Hush; Hush Hush, the Pussycat Dolls proceeded with their European/Australian tour on May 16, 2009.

The emphasis on Nicole Scherzinger as the featured artist caused controversy, as “Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)” and “Hush Hush; Hush Hush” (initially during its promotional release) emphasized her as a featured singer. It sparked rumors that Nicole Scherzinger was leaving the group to continue her solo career, despite well below average sales for the singles from her 2007 shelved solo album release “Her Name Is Nicole”. This also led to internal strife within the group as the other members were unhappy with the overemphasis on Scherzinger. The tension became higher when rumors sparked pertaining to the group eventually breaking up just after they finished their world tour. Members of the group gave their opinions but had not made any confirmation regarding the issue.

There is talk of Nicole being back in the recording studio in 2010 to finally record a solo album.

On August 2, 2009, the rumor was put to an end when founder Robin Antin finally made an announcement on her own twitter page saying: “The Pussycat Dolls r NOT breaking up…. & IF they ever were, u would hear it from ME 1st, NOT GOSSIP…Album #3 on the way!”

On September 24, 2009 it was confirmed that the group would be taking a break. During an interview with MTV, Thornton stated “Right now the Pussycat Dolls are on a break. It’s actually a much-needed break. It’s like when you’re with your sisters for 24 hours a day and you need to take your own shower.” Thornton said that the Dolls will eventually find their way back to one another. While on break, the Dolls were seen making appearances on many charity events, awards, promotions, and occasions while still making musical contributions either as a solo effort or as guest in other artist’s works. Nicole Scherzinger had made guest appearances on other artist’s songs and albums while rumored to be preparing for another try at her previously shelved debut album and the Doll’s upcoming third album at the same time. Kimberly Wyatt had been holding dancing classes in London studios while also rumored to be preparing for her debut album. Melody Thornton had made cameo appearances on other artist’s music videos and was rumored to have made guest vocals on Timbaland’s upcoming album. Ashley Roberts also made appearances on many events and promotions.

However it has been reported that their will be a new album late 2010/early 2011 so from us here at dalebamber.co.uk…we dont think we have heard the last of The Pussycat Dolls just yet!

So its not unusual for Dale to spark debates on his radio show…and Series 3 is no exception. If Dale had to choose between Taylor Swift or Nicole Scherzinger to date who would he pick?

On Sunday 20th September 2009 on The Dale Bamber Show, Dale said that Lewis Hamilton is a fool for dumping Nicole from the Pussycat Dolls. Dale openly admitted that he would take Nicole out and never dump her…only to retrack his word seconds after saying them saying that he would never two time on Taylor Swift. So we ask you. Who would you date?

Dale announced it on his show and here is his answer:

But lets look at each singer individually

As you know the history of the show is on this website….but how did I get into radio? What made me want to persue a career in radio? Well find out below as for the first time since the show began I reveal the truth…this is The True Story Of The Dale Bamber Show!

Date written: 30th may 2008.

Growing up I’d always had a place for entertainment, but never saw that it could make a career for me. From a family of graduates and career minded people I was unsure of how breaking the mould would be. From school I decided on a plumbing career but still had the yearning for my name in lights and screaming, adoring fans - but then who doesn’t?

One boxing day sat at home I had an urge to ring into Century FM and request a song - how hard could it be right? I was waiting on line and then out of nowhere my nerves got the better of me and I bottled it. I felt an instant relief until my hone rang. God they’d rung me back! Should I just ignore it? While all these thoughts were racing through my mind I found myself answering the phone. D’OH! I had to go through with it now! As I began talking to the DJ I found my nerves just went. I ended up on air for 5 minutes…and I loved it! What a buzz. My yearning was now stranger than ever, yet life carried on as normal.

A few days later my phone was ringing, from a withheld number. I don’t usually answer withheld calls but I was drawn to do so…and I am glad I did - it was Pat Sharp (Yes he presented Fun House and Top Of The Pops!) He was inviting me Dale Bamber on his show. Could this lead to my big break or would it just be a fun day? Either way I knew immediately I’d be going on! Pat gave me some questions to ask him…some of which were a little corny shall we say but hey not everyone can shoot to fame on the X Factor can they? After the show Pat told me I’d be great on the radio and should peruse a career in the business! He inspired me to go into Ribble Valley Radio and ask for a job - a little forward I know but my mum always told me if you don’t ask you don’t get! To my surprise they gave me a job on the spot…Brilliant I was in!

I was so nervous on my first show. So much that people thought that it was pre-recorded I’d practiced that hard! The second show had to be better. I decided not to practice at all! It worked second show was a hit. I’d started to become known on the airwaves for my love of Girls Aloud and within a few months I had the idea of Girls Aloud Heaven - a 6 hour show dedicated to them. This helped make the show the success that it is today. My show was advertised of their official website! Soon after the 6 hour show the fan letters began to arrive and it was everything I’d ever wanted!

Ribble valley Radio sadly came to an end and my show was the last show to broadcast on the station so it ended on a high. It couldn’t all end there though…not for me! I needed more. Plumbing just wouldn’t do anymore - I wanted different things. I made the hardest - yet surprisingly easiest decision of my life - to drop plumbing, in pursuit of a career in media.

In September I’m off to college and shortly I’ll again have my own show on the new radio station Ribble Valley Media. So it’s all on the up…who would have thought my life would change so dramatically after a phone call to a radio station to request WHAM! Last Christmas? It’s a funny old world!

dalebamber.co.uk has been on the internet since 2006. To alot of people…its hard to believe that this website has survived this long! The website has been known for its entertainment news and of corse, being the syndicate website for The Dale Bamber Show. The website has come along way since 2006 and heres a little trip down memory lane…

The 2006 era

The website was lauched in December 2006 by MW web designs (Now known as Equal Design) dalebamber.co.uk was the very first website the company had created. The look of the website was basic. The colour scheme was green and white (ok not the best colours ever) and the content was worse than the colour scheme. Content from the 2006 era. About me, Top of the pops, Girls Aloud and a video gallery. The site was more of a factual site than an entertainment website, with only the video gallery being updated.

No pictures survive of the first look of dalebamber.co.uk (being honest…we didn’t expect it to last this long either!) therefore current graphics designer for the website Cheryl Gerhard re-created what the banner used to look like.

As well as a website…dalebamber had a blog as well…however unlike a normal blog this advertised upcoming TV shows like TOTP2.

2007 - The Dale Bamber Show era

April 2007 and Dale Bamber got his very own radio show. Therefore the website had to have new features and not just be a factual website…About me, Top of the pops and Girls Aloud stayed there but a new section was added (cleverly titled The Dale Bamber Show) After the first broadcast of The Dale Bamber Show the website went down due to the amount of hits the site got. After this dalebamber.co.uk became the syndicate website for the show.

After the Dale Bamber Show

October 2007 and The Dale Bamber show came to the end of its 2nd series due to Ribble Valley Radio closing down…so what happens to the website? Well after talks dalebamber.co.uk decided to stay…despite the end of The Dale Bamber Show. So next came the decision of content. The Dale Bamber show section still stayed as a tribute to RVR’s most successful show. but the site turned more into a Girls Aloud fansite.

The look of dalebamber.co.uk as from 3rd November 2007…as you can tell the colour scheme changed from green to red

The blog also had a new look as well…based on Nadine Coyle…and the colour of her dress in the picture.

Fact: The original design of this blog was based on The Simpsons however due to Dales…erm…dying love for Nadine Coyle the blog was re-designed for Dale.

The blog was heavily used in January 2008 to bring you the latest news on Ashley Cole cheating on Cheryl Cole…with the blog being updated every hour plus bringing you the headlines from the national papers.

April 2008 - The New Look site

For most of March 2008 the website was down due to updating the programme the website used to edit the content. Was it worth it though? of course it was! Dalebamber.co.uk came back on the net with a brand spankin new look.

However due to the cost of updates…this lead to dalebamber.co.uk/blog to be axed as the main website was the interest. The blog didnt have the magic it one had therefore after long talks the blog was no more!

The new look website had a totally new layer. It had 3 collums with each section being sectioned off in its own little box. This also included the Featured video on the right hand side…which stays stationary on every page of the website. The black tool bar also had a dropdown feature offering more pages to view. Instead of the blog a new section called Dale’s World was created bringing you the latest news in the entertainment world.

November 2008 - Meet the Team

November 2008 and dalebamber.co.uk was that popular…it needed a team to run it. The original 2 members of dalebamber.co.uk stayed… Mark Wilkinson and of course Dale Bamber stayed…and the site hired 2 new people. Leanne Graham and Cheryl Gerhard. Leanne Graham was branded as the site’s journalist and took over from Dale’s World. Leanne and Dale met through The Dale Bamber Show…Leanne being a listener. After the show disbanded, Leanne and Dale kept in touch with each other. After 1 month of writing for the website Leanne got taken on as a journalist for Teen Scene magazine in America. Despite this…she still writes for dalebamber.co.uk. Cheryl Gerhard is the sites graphic designer…mainly designing the banners for dalebamber.co.uk. Once again like Leanne, Cheryl and Dale met through The Dale Bamber Show and kept in touch after the show ended. Her first banner being the one below:

2009 - The Flashing Banner Era

2009 and the website has a slight update. The dropdown navigation changed and you had to click the toolbar to get more page options and the banner had changed…to the most controversial banner to date:

At this point the website was branded “pornographic as Sarah Harding and Cheryl Cole was wearing only their bra’s in the picture. The website recieved over 1000 complaints over the banner and therefore we changed it immediatly…and replaced the 5 pictures of Girls Aloud….with Taylor Swift!

Yet the banner still recieved complaints about the moving graphics…and once again…dalebamber.co.uk changed the banner. The site went back to the original banner from April 2008.

Also in this era dalebamber.co.uk brought back the Girls Aloud picture gallery due to popular demand. This also meant bringing alot of the old graphic works from as far back as 2007 out of retirement for each gallery.

June 2009 - The Taylor Swift Era

June 2009 and the website got yet another new banner. Teen sensation Taylor Swift has started to take the world by storm with her guitar. In June 2009 she won 2 CMT awards and to express Dale’s love for her Cheryl the graphics designer made this…in Dale’s words “gorgeous” banner.

Sept 09 - All change

The Dale Bamber Show returned in August 2009 which meant the site was the syndicate site again for the pop radio show. Which meant changes had to be made to the site as far as content. The Girls Aloud picture gallery was once AGAIN axed and was replaced with podcasts of The Dale Bamber Show. Within a mater of a month, a shock to everyone the whole Girls Aloud section was taken down after 3 years…and being an original page from the website since day 1 of dalebamber.co.uk. Along with losing Girls Aloud, journalist Leanne Graham sadly left dalebamber.co.uk to persue her career. However new features took over from Leannes column and the Girls Aloud section. Dalebamber.co.uk started to publish the new releases of singles each week as well as a brief look at the history of berlesque pop act The Pussycat Dolls. The Dale Bamber Show had various topics that attracted people to the website including “Taylor Swift vs Nicole Scherzinger”, where Dale had to choose who he would rather date…and Dale’s protest against X Factor Xmas number 1’s by a campain to “Get Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You To Number 1″. As the website entered this new era it was also near the end of the decade…therefore the featured videos on the website highlighted the best muscial highlights of the noughties.

2010 - New banner/new content

2010 and dalebamber.co.uk got a slight makeover with a new banner (Thank you Nicole Cooper from Australia for making the banner) as well as the content constantly changing. Dale started a spin off of his show called “The Dale Bamber Show…Exposed! and Dale also changed the theme of the content for the features videos basing them on events that have happened in the news. Dale’s world also got the axe in January 2010 as Dale’s media archive returned with new material added since 2008.

The Future?

So whats the future for dalebamber.co.uk? Well the future plans is to still bring you an entertainment website with the help of the dalebamber.co.uk team. In general who knows what the future will bring. Thanks for visiting dalebamber.co.uk.

The Dale Bamber Show - Ribble Valley Media - Aug 09 - Date

Currently The Dale Bamber Show broadcasts every Sunday evening on Ribble Valley Media. Podcasts of the best bits that happen live on the show are posted here every Monday. Podcasts are avaliable for a maximum of 7 days.

The Dale Bamber Show - End of decade special - Dec 09

At the end of 2009 I got to illustrate my editing to the general public through an extended edition of The Dale Bamber Show. This involved creating a series of remixes to sum up each year of music from 2000 to 2009, as well as other remixes that I had to time correct to the speech on the script.

In November 2009 i took part in creating a short film as part of a university project. This involved creating a 3 minuite film with a script that wasn’t the best script in the world. As a team, we re-wrote the script and created a good 3 minute film.

Blackburn College Podcast - Mar 09/May 09

I got approached to present the College Podcast as a guest presenter. This was a challenge for me as I had been out of radio for over 2 years. I agreed to host it to see if I had improved over 2 years. What do you think?

In January 2009, I created a cut up (a track that tells you a story by using clips of other media for example songs).

The Guillemots - Nov 08

In November 2008, I took part in creating a documentary based on The Guillemots. They were playing in Lancaster Library that day as part of the new scheme “Get it loud in Libraries” I helped film and edit the documentary. Currently the video is uploaded onto the Saatchi art and music magazine website…that gets over 60 million hits!

Let’s Wrestle - Oct 08

On 7th October 2008, the London band Let’s Wrestle came into Blackburn College to hold an exclusive performance for us to watch and enjoy. Just 1 problem…Filming got disturbed by a bomb scare! Click here to read the BBC News on the bomb scare. Therefore we filmed the band a day later. I got the honours to interview the band and we created a short documentary based on the band who have high hopes to break America (under a different name apparently!) Once again the Saatchi website published the documentary on their website.

So the station that made my dreams become reality…Ribble Valley Radio closed it’s doors due to funding problems. However listeners got the pleasure to enjoy the last show being presented by Dale.

Its amazing how fast technology is evolving! Internet radio has taken the world by storm! You can now even buy internet radios! Now you can listen to any radio station…in any country. No Matter who you are, where you live, what your music taste is there is always something on the radio! As dalebamber.co.uk is a showbiz entertainment website this page focuses on more pop-commercial radio stations than every type of radio station in the world!

New Magic 94.9FM (America)

New Magic 94.9FM is Tampa Bay’s number 1 radio station. “It’s soft and Contemporary and voted number 1 AGAIN! for the most music while you work!” (Not bein funny or anything…but when i first started listening to this station 7 years ago it was number 1 for the most music while you work…so either this is a really good station OR there are no other stations in Tampa!)

Click here to listen to New Magic 94.9FM LIVE! (Remember they are 5 hours behind UK time)

It will open in a new window and will play automatically after the advert!

K92FM (America)

Country music isnt really big in the United Kingdom…however in America its massive. Its that big it has its own radio station.

Click here to listen to K92FM (Remember they are 5 hours behind UK time)

It will open in a new window and will play automatically after the advert!

BBC Radio 1 (UK)

BBC radio 1 first launched 30th September 1967 and is known for new chart music! It is also well known for the loudmouth (and not funny in my opinion) Chirs Moyles!

Click here to listen to BBC radio 1

BBC Radio 2 (UK)

BBC Radio 2 is the UK’s most listened to radio station (Believe it or not!) The station is aimed at 25+ however over recent years younger listeneers are tuning in. Radio 2 is known for Terry Wogans Breakfast Show and having TOTP2 presenter Steve Wright on the station as well!

Click here to listen to BBC radio 2

Smash! Hits Radio (UK)

It started off as a 1980’s pop magazine featuring the biggest pop bands at the time like WHAM!, Depeche Mode and Bros (yes really Bros!) After the company ended the magazine in the early 2000’s they launched Smash! Hits Radio. Bringing you recent pop music to your ears.

Click here to listen to Smash! Hits Radio

Heat Radio (UK)

Once again based on a celebrity magazine, Heat Radio brings you the best pop music from late 80’s, 90’s and now!

Click here to listen to Heat Radio

The Hits (UK)

So Channel 4 may have taken over The Hits TV channel but what they never did was take over The Hits Radio…and it still survives via the internet!

Click Here to listen to The Hits

Heart (London, UK)

London’s Heart is London’s most listened to radio station and brings you love songs!

Click here to listen to London’s Heart

105.4FM Real Radio (North West UK)

So what was Century Radio, Real radio is the best station for music from the 80’s 90’s and now! With presenters from Salty and Debbie on the breakfast show…to Chris Tarrant.

Click here to listen to 105.4FM Real Radio (North West UK)

97.4 Rock FM (North West UK)

Keeping it local for dalebamber.co.uk, Rock fm is Preston and the North West’s local radio station bringing the latest news, sports and music.
