During the shows time on RVR the show kept changing its on air features to keep the show fresh! Below are all the on air features that appeared on the show when it was on RVR…
Original Vs Re-releases (Apr 07 - Jun 07/Oct 07)
The very first on air feature to broadcast! Each week i would choose a song that i would play…but you got to choose the artist….either the artist who sang it originally….or the artist who covered it! It orignally ended in June 07…but made 1 more appearance in the best of show in Oct 07.
Song for a reason (Apr 07 - May 07/Jul 07/Sept 07)
Stories that touched the world! Each week (monthly after May) people would send in their stories and a song dedication. These could either be happy…sad etc. The most popular was the story about September 11th…and this was repeated on the best of show in Oct 07.
The Weekly Tease (Apr 07 - Jun 07)
Each week I would either read a joke…or a brainteaser and the listeners would have to guess the answer!
Rewind 7 @ 7 (May 07)
This on air feature was short lived on the show…with only 3 airings….each Sunday at 7pm I would play 7 songs from 1 year…and all the listeners had to do was guess the year! The 3 years that appeared on this feature were:
- 1989
- 1984
- 2002
Themed Shows (Apr 07 - Jun 07/Sept 07)
The themes shows that were broadcasted were:
- Kids Special (Apr 07)
- Eurovision special (May 07)
- Love show special (May 07)
- Girls Aloud Special (May 07)
- Boyband Special (Jun 07)
- GirlBand Special (Jun 07)
- Love Show Special (Sept 07)
- Boyband special (Sept 07)
- Girl Band Special (Sept 07)
Girls Aloud Heaven (26th Aug 07)
It made the show known to its International listeners thanks to the official Girls Aloud Website, Girls Aloud Heaven…between 6pm - Midnight it was non-stop Girls Aloud…girls aloud music, Girls Aloud chat…even an official Girls Aloud Charts…rating all the released music from Girls Aloud from Sound of the underground to Sexy! No No No!
- Something Kinda OOOOH
- Whole Lotta History
- I’ll stand by you
- Biology
- Love Machine
- Jump
- No Good Advice
- The Show
- Wake Me Up
- I Think We’re alone now
- Sexy! No No No
- See The Day
- Long Hot Summer
- Walk this way
- Life got cold
- Sound of the underground
It was a first in the UK for a radio presenter to take a band to that level on the airwaves!!!!!!
The official UK top 40 (Apr 07 - Oct 07)
The only on air feature to run throughout the entire run of the show! Each week I would read out the official UK top 40 from number 40 to number 1 and play the number 1!
Guess The Girl (Jul 07 - Oct 07)
Arguably the most popular and the most successful on air feature at Ribble Valley radio…Guess The Girl! each week I would Play a popstars the Rivals performance and all the listeners had to do was to guess which member of Girls Aloud it was…they had a choice of 5 girls:
- Nadine
- Cheryl
- Sarah
- Kimberley
- Nicola
This on air feature was a make or break for the show….to everyones relief it paied off!

Interview date - 14th October 2007
I managed to get another DJ to interiew me after the final broadcasting of The Dale Bamber Show:
How do you feel about Ribble Valley Radio closing down? Well when I heard I was obviously gutted…but im happy that the staion let me have the last ever show! Dont think they were too happy with the song i choose to close the station down to - Girls Aloud - I’ll stand by you :)
At the age of 17 you had your own radio show, Not many people at your age can host their own show: I gotta thank RVR for giving me the chance!
In August you hit it big time with International fans - Yeh believe it or not it was Girls Aloud heaven that got me the international listeners! They advertised my show on their site and people around the world tuned in for non - stop girls aloud!
Who’s your favourite member of Girls Aloud?: Hard question! I like them all but in different ways! so I cant say!
Ok if you won’t say your favourite…who’s the prettiest?: Theyre all good looking! You cant choose!
You must have a favourite!… OK its Nadine…but the other 4 girls are 2nd ![]()
When you meantion Girls Aloud on your show you read them in this order - Nadine, Cheryl, Sarah, Kimberley and Nicola - Is that the order you like them in? No! lol, Thats just the way I say the band members! - Seriously I aint lying!
94% of listeners have said you sound like Kimberley from Girls Aloud…what do you think? I never thought…and I still dont think I sound like Kimberley. Bradfords about 20 mins away from were I live…I still dont think I sound like Kimberley lol.
Favourite song of all time: I’ll stand by you - NOT because Girls Aloud covered it…I like the Pretenders verion as well and Carrie Underwoods version…its just a really really good song!
On your show you kicked up the biggest argument at Ribble Valley Radio EVER! So Dale, we ask you…whos better… SPICE GIRLS OR GIRLS ALOUD!? OMG! lol…Girls Aloud all the way! Believe it or not that started out as a joke! It happened just before I went to America for 2 weeks! I had access to a computer while I was there and heard someone meantioning the argument spice girls vs girls aloud. When I got back…people were still on about it! Spice Girls won this argument…but i dont care!
The first ever number 1 on you show was Beyonce and Shakira Beatiful Liar… Actually It wasn’t! On Saturday Lunchtimes I used to do the Number 1 @ 1 …So in theory the first ever number 1 on my show was Alex Gaurdino…Destination Unknown….But if we are looking at just Sunday nights then yes Beyonce and Shakira were the first….that was a good song actually…3 weeks at number 1!
The Last ever number 1 on The Dale Bamber Show was Sugababes about you now… OMG I love that song! I was happy that it was the last number 1…obviously Girls Aloud…Sexy! No!No!No! would have been a better final number 1 though…
First song you requested on the radio: WHAM! last christmas
First song you played on the radio: Girls Aloud - No good advice
Last song you played on the radio: Girls Aloud - I’ll Stand by you
Most embarrasing moment on air: Singing Girls Aloud Vs the Sugababes walk this way LIVE on air!
Faviourtie TV show: Gotta be TOTP2 and the original Top of the pops
Favourite music Band: GIRLS ALOUD!!!!!
First single/Album you bought: First single was Band aid 20: Do they know its christmas time (singles were expensive back in the early naughties) And the first album i bought was Girls Aloud. I was given a WHAM! album so in a sense that was my first album.
Girls Aloud or WHAM!: GIRLS ALOUD! Prefer Girls aloud cause ive seen them in concert…Plus Girls Aloud are still going today!
First Holiday Abroad: France - 2001
Most annoying habit: Im so impatient!
If there was anything i could change about myself what would it be: Nothing! I am happy the way I am!
Favourtie sweet as a kid: Hmmm…Fruit salads and Blackjacks
Favourite Kids programme: Muppets/Rainbow
Favourite soap: Corrie…has to be…its well funny!
Favourite reality TV programme: Used to be Big Brother…got a bit boring now! Also loved Popstars the rivals (not because Girls Aloud were formed on there) and I like to watch the X Factor - well the first few weeks
Why did you become a Radio DJ? After appearing on Century FM twice i just enjoyed it so much…within a month there were talks of me getting my own show and within 4 months I was broadcasting ‘Pop at its best’
How did you get into radio? Rang Century FM up at Christmas and got my own show…apparently people found me funny so they asked me to come on again…so I did and it all started from there!
Beyonce or Rhianna: Beyonce
Ant or Dec: Ant
Downloads or CDs: CD’s…I’d rather have it in ma hand and buy it myself rather than over the internet.
What will you do when Girls Aloud Split: move on…I’ll still love them…always!
Swap Shop or Tiswas: To say I wasnt actually alive when any were originally broadcasted but after watching the reunions recently…I loved Tiswas…so I choose Tiswas!
Favourite band before the 1980’s: I only really Know ABBA’s music from the 1970’s…so ABBA
Favourite classic Comedy: So many to choose from…has to be Fawlty Towers tho…Manwel and Basil are the best characters!
Which song makes you cry: I’m not saying cause i’ll get ripped but theres more than 1!
Favourite time of year to do Radio: December! Not only do you get to play classic Christmas songs but the whole Christmas number 1 is exciting!
Best DVD you bought: Tough 1. Erm…Got 2. Girls Aloud off the record and Top of the pops:40th Anniversary DVD! Girls Aloud off the records a Tv series where Cameras follow Girls Aloud round for 3 months and the Top of the pops DVD has 40 songs…1 from every year since Top of the pops started - worth the money compared to a CD.
What did you think of Rihanna being number 1 for 10 weeks: I Liked the song Umbrella. Don’t think anyone else likes it now but I still think its good!
A fan of Big Brother: I think its had its day! It has been good in the past!
Can you ever see yourself making a comeback? At this moment in time…No! But hopefully I will one day!
Picture gallery
Usually you dont expect pictures to be taken when you are performing a radio show…which is why these pictures are rare….these are the only pictures that exsist of me performing The Dale Bamber Show….Thank you to the person who sent them by E-mail! On Sunday 20th May 2007 The Dale Bamber Show broadcasted Live at the beer Festival in Clitheroe…..coincidently because it was held in the same building as Ribble Valley Radio. The Beer fesival is held every Year in Clitheroe and lasts a full weekend…..which just lead to drunk people walking into the studios while I was live….what i didnt know was that someone took pictures of the show broadcasting….and now they appear on dalebamber.co.uk.
Also added to the gallery are a few pictures from the early Ribble Valley Radio days.
